Embedded Software Engineer 2
Overview
Garmin is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer 2 to develop moderately complex software and create and execute designs for embedded software development for Garmin Avionics products.
Responsibilities
- Create and execute designs for new functionalities using Embedded C or other selected languages
- Utilize software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, build processes, and debuggers
- May perform as a technical leader or Lead Software Engineer for derivative software projects
- Collaborate through peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions
- Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques
- Perform technical root cause analysis and outline corrective action for given problems
- Contribute to technical research on new technologies
- Estimate level of effort, evaluate new technology options, and provide feedback on electrical design aspects
- Serve as a mentor to less experienced software engineers
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics, or related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent academics with cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule
- Demonstrated proficiency developing moderately complex software in Embedded C or other selected languages
- Proficient knowledge of software engineering tools including configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers
- Strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Positive, detail-oriented, team-oriented problem solver with ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
- Outstanding academics with cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5
- Passion for aviation or pilot experience
