Staff Embedded Systems Algorithm Engineer
Overview
Qualcomm is seeking a Staff Embedded Systems Algorithm Engineer to lead the research, design, and development of algorithms and embedded SoC software architectures for next-generation mobile devices, wireless networks, and WLAN platforms.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, and develop algorithms for embedded SoC software architectures and wireless communication systems
- Drive architecture decisions across core, cache, memory models, bus architecture, and memory controller subsystems
- Develop and optimize C++ and C implementations for real-time embedded systems
- Build automation frameworks and scripting interfaces for test-equipment control and validation workflows
- Perform algorithm analysis, simulation, and performance tuning across 3G/4G/5G and WLAN platforms
- Correlate results across validation stages — systems bench, RFA bench, ATE, and DVT — to isolate discrepancies and determine root causes
- Apply signal processing and DSP techniques to solve complex wireless communication challenges
- Contribute to Qualcomm’s IP portfolio through patents and technical publications
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to proprietary and public air interface specifications
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or foreign academic equivalent)
- 5+ years of experience in embedded systems engineering and algorithm development
- Strong proficiency in C, C++, and Python
- Experience with Linux embedded development and Bash scripting
- Deep understanding of digital signal processing and wireless communication systems
- Knowledge of computer system architecture including core, cache, and memory models
- Familiarity with WLAN performance validation, bring-up, and debug
- Experience with automation frameworks for test equipment control
