Senior Engineer — Embedded Systems Development (Professional Audio)
Overview
Shure is seeking a Senior Engineer to design, implement, test, and integrate real-time multitasking embedded software for Shure’s professional audio products.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test embedded software and associated components for audio product hardware and software systems
- Develop hardware drivers, embedded software applications, and audio and control networking using C++ and C
- Work as part of a cross-functional development team on product architecture and software design implementation
- Estimate, organize, and document tasks
- Practice established software development methodologies focusing on software architecture and design
- Model designs using UML or similar methodologies; develop use cases to model real-time systems behavior
- Review design and code developed by peer engineers; engage in unit, integration, and system testing
Requirements
- BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Electrical Engineering
- 5 or more years of requisite experience
- Demonstrated skills in C++ and C with object-oriented design, analysis, and programming
- Experience designing software with networking protocols — Ethernet, IP, TCP/UDP, WiFi, and other wireless protocols
- Understanding of operating system concepts and tools for real-time embedded operating systems (RTOS) such as Embedded Linux, FreeRTOS, or VxWorks
- Experience with embedded system architectures, development environments, and debugging
- Hardware driver development and hardware debugging experience
- Experience with software version control and release
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to analyze complex interdependent variables
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
