Overview

Sonos is seeking a Senior Wi-Fi Driver/Firmware Engineer to enhance the industry’s most innovative embedded networking solution for streaming audio and develop firmware for new product introductions with modern radio chips.

Responsibilities

  • Use knowledge of C, Linux kernel mode development, and network device drivers to bring up new prototypes and future Sonos products on the latest wireless networking hardware.
  • Use understanding of IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, Ethernet, and network organization and routing algorithms to improve the performance and scale of the Sonos wireless network.
  • Work with embedded software development teams to understand audio streaming application software built on top of WiFi and suggest efficient use of the underlying network.
  • Work with Hardware and Platform Software teams to optimize Sonos platform performance.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in EE, CS, Mathematics, or related discipline.
  • Proficiency in C.
  • 7+ years of experience developing, optimizing, and maintaining embedded systems.
  • Experience in Linux kernel development and debugging.
  • Demonstrated experience in IEEE 802.11/wireless or mesh networking, Bluetooth, or network stack (TCP/IP, ARP, DHCP, NAT).
  • Track record of shipping reliable, extensible and maintainable software.
  • Hands-on debugging skills using logs, packet captures, regulatory tools, RF analyzers, and SoC-level tracing tools.
  • Experience working with external vendors to integrate and troubleshoot issues with chips and drivers.
  • Experience bringing up new radio platforms and debugging low level issues crossing hardware and software.
  • Experience passing WiFi alliance testing, BT sig testing, and BT/WiFi compliance testing.
  • Experience defining and implementing statistics for debugging field issues.
  • Experience in full product lifecycle including post GA maintenance.
