Overview

VIAVI is seeking a Software Engineer to design and maintain state-of-the-art software and firmware for alternative navigation solutions on the PNT (position, navigation, timing) team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain core libraries and frameworks used across all APNT platforms
  • Lead the development and implementation of new features for products
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, systems, and manufacturing teams to perfect designs and processes
  • Troubleshoot complex issues at your desk, remotely, and in the field
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Strong proficiency in C++ or Rust with experience in Linux development environments
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and PCB layouts
  • Demonstrated expertise with Git version control
  • Experience with CMake and Makefile build systems
  • Proficiency debugging systems with GDB, including remotely deployed systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred

  • Strong proficiency in Python and MATLAB
  • Experience with build systems like Yocto or Buildroot
  • Experience designing software for bare-metal embedded systems
  • Knowledge of sensor fusion and extended Kalman filter techniques
  • Contributions to open-source projects or publications
