Overview

Waymo is seeking a Software Engineer, Machine Learning/AI Accelerator to design and implement firmware, low-level drivers, and APIs for ML accelerator chips that power Waymo’s autonomous driving compute platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement full stack solutions from firmware, low-level drivers, and APIs for ML accelerator chips.
  • Analyze and optimize firmware and driver performance for demanding AI workloads.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware engineers throughout the ASIC design and verification processes.
  • Design and implement efficient memory management solutions including NUMA and IOMMU.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in software development.
  • Bare-metal or RTOS firmware development experience.
  • Experience with embedded architectures, IO technologies (PCIe, DRAM, AXI), and hardware/software interactions.
  • Strong C and C++ skills.
